For obvious reasons we’re not able to meet in person today, but I wanted to take the opportunity to send a message of support to all the great businesses, schools and individuals who are represented at our forums.
These are truly unprecedented times and I know you’re all facing significant financial and operational difficulties. On behalf of our Chairman Eamonn and the rest of the St Helens Economy Board, we’d like to thank you all for the resilience and determination that you’re showing to ensure that we all get through this safely.
Over the last month the response to current crisis from you as ambassadors has been outstanding, I’d like to express our sincere appreciation for all you’re doing within our communities to respond to this crisis. It is fantastic to see that despite the uncertainties we’re currently facing, businesses in St Helens are still prepared to lead the way and make a difference.
A virtual update has been produced (see above) to keep you all updated and to make an important introduction to St Helens Council’s new Chief Executive Kath O’Dwyer. Kath brings a wealth of skills and experience, we’re truly delighted to welcome her to St Helens and I very much look forward to working closely with Kath to continue to build on the work done to date.
Finally, I’d like to acknowledge St Helens Together, a campaign led by St Helens Council working together with partners and an army of volunteers, has been working hard to create a community hub to help distribute food and essential supplies to those identified as most at risk. This includes delivering emergency food parcels to people who cannot leave their homes to shop or cannot afford food due to the current crisis.
Since the launch of this fund, just over £69,000 has been raised, but we really need your help to get to the target of £80,000.
Please can I ask you to help us to raise the much needed funds for those in need in St Helens and smash our target. You can donate as little as £2 and donations can be made easily online by visiting www.spacehive.com/st-helens-together
If your business would like to support by raising funds or making a donation, please get in touch with me to discuss so we can capture this and support you in doing so.
Our next ambassadors’ networking forum is scheduled for 17th June, I will keep you informed as to whether or not this can go ahead, and should it not be possible to hold this meeting, we will provide further virtual updates.
Thank you for all you’re doing, stay safe and keep up the good work.
