Regional projects such as Superport, or the new deep water berth at Liverpool 2, and St Helens’ ideal location mid-way between Liverpool and Manchester, situated on the motorway and national rail networks, makes the borough an attractive place to do business.
But to enable us to capitalise on these distinct advantages and to realise the benefits that growth and development can bring we need to release land for employment use in key locations, as well as providing a greater range of housing and more affordable homes for local people.
In order to do this St Helens Council is preparing a new Local Plan. This Plan will set how much new development for housing, employment and other uses should take place in the borough. It will identify where new development should take place and set out the policies for assessing planning applications.
Details of the stages of the Plan’s preparation, together with the full Plan, public consultation and frequently asked questions, are available here.
